It was around 2003 that I began to have a fascination with wands. I perused various marketplaces worldwide to see what was being offered. My training as an artisan (gold / silversmith and knife / swordmaker for over 3 decades) provided me with a very critical eye. Initially the only wands I was drawn to purchase and offer for resale were created by a brilliant Scandinavian designer. These were/are beautifully designed and perfectly crafted, and met my discriminating at times lengthy examinations, and individual selection. In my interest to provide authentic feedback on what these wands do, I began meditating and teaching with them. So far I’m finding very powerful support to my efforts.

Meditation Wands are objects created to assist one in accessing, contemplating upon, and manifesting in some fashion the unique gifts bestowed by the Creator to each of us. They can also buoy the Spirit and help put us in touch with the profound aspects of the Soul. They can be objects of power and focus, which can serve to cut through the limitations of ego. Wands for meditation and healing can be valuable tools one utilizes to augment a spiritual/radiant presence, and one’s capacity to facilitate healing._*

Crystal Wands can also used to enhance focus while meditating, to charge water, for healing and for massage. They can also assist in spiritual journeying and to direct intention as in remote healing work. Crystal healing wands may on occasion be a substitute for a knife, sword, scepter or staff, objects which are used in the same way as wands in some spiritual traditions._*

We will focus on wands that are made of finest clear quartz crystal and solid sterling silver with gemstones tastefully and strategically set on them. There are numerous kinds/styles of wands where crystals and gemstones are used to support the meditation and healing processes.

Wands are commonly the tools of healers and those who embrace the metaphysical, and may be used quite successfully by any who wish to enhance their capacity for insight and intuition. The magic wands of myth and legend, are believed to have been used by the highly evolved crystal healers of Atlantis, and many practitioners today believe that wands from those far-off times are surfacing once again, complete with their powerful capacity for transformation and programming.

Quartz crystal wands especially, have a wonderful capacity to assist us in achieving our aspirations and dreams while helping also to manifest our destiny. The power of crystal wands is vastly expanded when programmed with your purposeful intentions. When using a wand it can be particularly effective to consciously visualize and allow all universal forces to flow into your being towards the hand holding the wand, or the place where the wand is resting.

Wands are often created with gemstones selected to magnify their effects, at times for specific purposes. Chakra wands with gemstones of each of the rainbow colors are among the most common. Some wands have crystal points at both ends, while others have a crystal point at one end and removable crystal sphere on the other. Large wands generally are not necessarily more powerful than small ones. The power of a wand comes from the caliber of the materials used in its makeup, as well as the intent and consciousness of the designer/maker of the wand.

However you get or make your wand and whatever materials are in it, wands are dedicated and activated by intention and connection. Place your wand and yourself within a sacred space/place even if that just be in your heart and mind. Focus your attention and intention on the wand to allow Power and Grace to flow into it. Summon energy from your surroundings, the ethers and all sources you feel in touch with, to infuse the wand with blessings and healing capability.

There are numerous ways that wands may be used. Some are simply held in the hand, in the lap or close by during meditation. Wands are sometimes used in the same way as Athames (ritual knives) often are, to cast or define a circle of energy and protection for rituals or to mark the area of focused power and healing or meditation to be done within the circles bounds.

Wands are used to call focus, discharge, and otherwise effect energy. You may feel an intuitive need to move your wand in circles or spirals or other paths of motion while you focus and define the intention to direct energy for a chosen purpose. When using wands in healing work they may be moved through the aura/radiant presence and used for pulling out and releasing blocks and troubled energy build ups. They can also be used for filling the aura with healing light or spiritual energy. You may smooth or enhance the energy body with the wand too. A gentle sweeping of the wand around the body of the ill or unhappy may provide a soothing healing and comforting treatment. Allow your wands to be a channel, an amplifier, a projector of energy.

Using wands for meditation and healing can help you become more aware of your gifts and the sacred nature of life in and around you. Wands can be a key to unlock the door between worlds, or planes of existence between the mundane and the mystical. They can deepen meditation experiences to allow more awareness of your inner nature and of the beings and realms of Spirit that surround you.

Do your best to relax so that you are in a peaceful state of mind with no antagonistic thoughts, allowing emotional and mental tranquility. Hold the wand using both hands, touching the crystal ends with your index fingers, ball with the right hand and point with the left. Make clear in your mind exactly what you intend to use the power of the wand for (or just the intention to heal). Do this until you might sense the current of energy passing through the wand whilst maintaining the intention clearly in your mind.

Crystal cleansing of wands

Hold the wand using both hands pointing it towards the earth, without touching the crystal ends. Concentrate, imagining the pure energy of the universe entering the wand (ball end) and cleansing out the disturbed energy it has absorbed. This makes the connection from the sky to the earth. When you feel this has taken place, point the wand upwards imagining the stable energy of the earth entering into the wand. Do this until you feel grounded with everyday reality and connected with infinity.

End of treatment

At the end of the treatment hold the healing wand towards the sky with both hands sending any additional energy that you feel towards people or events that need healing.

For rejuvenating & rebalancing the energies in a place using the ball, you can touch all parts of the body including the head, projecting to release any stagnant/stale energies, imagining the ball absorbing this energy and releasing it through the point. Aromatherapy oils can be used in conjunction with the ball.

Acupressure/Meridian Healing

If you are a trained therapist that uses the acupuncture/meridian points throughout the body you can use the point if the wand to release blocked energy and introduce pure healing energy into that area.

Chakra Wands

A chakra is an energy centre in the body. According to eastern traditions there are 7 fundamental energy centers (7 chakras). These are an expression of 7 levels of consciousness, each of which have their own vibrational frequency and colour which can be augmented by different gemstones. The chakra wand has the stones of the 7 chakras in it. The size of the wand/gemstones may increase or decrease the power/effectiveness of the energy transferred.

The chakra wand can be an aid to the healing/harmonizing process. Whichever level the individual may be off balance at, the door can be opened to access the relevant energy through the gemstones. The gemstones have the balanced energy of each chakra in them. The crystal ends of the wand create a flow of energy magnified by the gemstones.
